AA Browser for Android 16
Welcome to the official compatibility guide for running AA Browser on Android 16. As Google introduces advanced sandboxing and strict process separation policies in Android 16, configuring your car browser requires specific validation steps.
Android 16 Key Changes & Fixes
1. Strict Sideload Restrictions
Android 16 introduces higher security controls for sideloaded application packages. Sideloading AA Browser using standard file managers may cause the app to be hidden or restricted in Android Auto. We highly recommend using the AAStore installer tool or Obtainium, as they correctly register the package installer API, allowing Android Auto to trust the app.
2. Unknown Sources Setup
To whitelist AA Browser on Android 16:
- Open Android Auto Settings → Tap 'Version' 10 times to enable Developer Mode.
- Open Developer settings from the top-right menu.
- Enable Unknown sources.
- Restart your mobile device to apply permissions across the security container.
3. Waze/Maps Drawer Sync Bypass
In Android 16, a connection drawer lag can prevent sideloaded apps from populating immediately. If AA Browser does not show in the launcher: connect to your vehicle, launch Google Maps or Waze on your display to sync coordinates, then check the app launcher list. The AA Browser icon should reveal itself.
